Menu Management

My friend Ennid Berger says, I like to eat almost everything. However, my wife Joanne is far more discriminating
and as the years have gone by I have developed the ability to help her "manage" the menu,i.e., choose something that she will like. Otherwise, if she does not like something she ordered we have to trade plates.

I am now thinking of giving a course at the New School or some other eclectic forum called "Menue Management" and lending myself out to fine restaurants.  After all, it is better to give than receive!

I have for many years been a "plate trader" myself. The only exception is when going to a Steak House as my wife does not eat beef. It is the only time I think of myself and indulge in an occasional treat that won't be shared.

I like everything Mommy gives me! It's usually Hills Science Diet kibble, but when she mixes in CHICKEN or VEGETABLES, it's simply sublime! Annie.

I think of your enthusiastic enjoyment of your food as part of your admirable gift for enjoying your life! As to poor menu management and remedial plate sharing, I agree that trading plates is the key to a successful marriage. Works for me. :) Ennid

My wife had this thing that I now manage, we've called it ordering until she was full (we enjoy bars and apps every bit if not more than restaurants). It usually rears its head when you go out and you are starving. The problem was that she wouldn't be the one who ate it all, I would (both sets of grandparents were born in Europe and the mantra was to always finish your plate).

We also love to share one meal when we go out, as almost every place you go has absurd portions. If there is a plate sharing charge, we will not go there any more. I don't mind spending money, but I have no tolerance for waste (or giving it away). Gratuities for good service and a smile on the other hand, we are both always very generous.

Tapas are great because if someone doesn't like one of the little morsels then just move on to another.

First its a "girl trainer" named Sue and now you are" trading plates ??" Woman admire the sensitivity and the female side of your psyche I'm sure !! When do we see the "REAL MAN?" Diane and I have been sharing entrees for years. Our former pediatrician wanted to know how we stayed so svelte. He is FAT.....I said we shared entrees. He almost fell over(literally) Actually we would compromise and order only one entrée and share that. Except (as previously mentioned) at a STEAKHOUSE. Diane won't eat red meat. I have learned that men must live to please their wives unconditionally. If mama ain't happy ain't nobody happy. By the way Dana_Charlton if you will indulge me....Hills Science Diet is a horrible dog food. It is marketed spectacularly but equates to poison. Throw it the hell out and spend some money on a quality dog food !! I consider myself an expert in dog nutrition and you are killing your dog...Email me @ neilhollander@gmail.com !!!

Hollander Sends !! YIKES !!

This Comissioner is revolted by diners "sucking-up" from others plates.
