Halloween Redux

I know we all talked about Halloween last week but I needed to share this heartwarming story.

Each year in my neighborhood, we have fewer and fewer “trick or treaters”.  Maybe the neighborhood is aging, I’m not sure.

This year a group of adorable youngsters dressed as goblins and ghouls came by to scare and leave with a treat.  They each politely wished us “trick or treat” took a piece of candy (or two) and moved aside for the next goblin to have a turn.

The last little goblin could not have been more than six years old.  After going through the exercise and taking their piece of candy, this goblin reached back to hand us a Halloween sticker.  “Thank you for the candy,” they said. “I hope you have a nice day.”

A sweet moment on a day filled with sweet treats.

Love this!. There are so many negative stories of rowdy kids taking bowls of candy or behaving poorly. This is refreshing to hear.

Great to hear a story about a well-mannered kid and reflect on our own trick-or-treating escapades of earlier years.
