A Matter of Opinion

success, opinions,

When I decided to go to law school despite having two young  kids and no money, I was told I’d never make it. I did make it, and I made it Cum Laude.

When I started my business, I was told I’d never be able to build a J+ Franchise in NYC – nobody had been able to do that. I did build it, and it’s been going strong for over 16 years!

When I was first suggested as a Group Chair in Gotham … well, ask Fred about that one.

The thing is that success is more about what we say to ourselves than what others have to say. In fact, what other people think about our abilities is really none of our business.

How much do you rely on the opinions of others?

I use opinions from others as a tool if I am doubting myself. It can help sometimes right the ship and get me back on track. But ultimately, it is my own doing that gets me their.

You have to ignore everyone elses opinion and listen to the opinion in your own head,

Thanks Shelley! It's called Metatalk, or the power of affirmative self-scripting, Think of the crack defense attorney who will coach his client to never say anything self-incriminating
