A New Tradition

On July 4th, James Taylor celebrated his fiftieth anniversary of Fourth of July concerts at Tanglewood - the renowned music venue in Lenox Massachusetts.
I love traditions. Although we’ve seen James Taylor at Tanglewood many times, we were not there last week. Instead, we’ve were extending our own tradition - in its third year - of having our family - children and grandchildren - in the Berkshires for the Fourth of July. (Perhaps someday we’ll all ascend to Tanglewood and picnic on the great lawn with James Taylor serenading from the stage in the Shed. But the concert runs late and some of the grandchildren wouldn't quite make it -- yet.)
This year we had extended family join us. Brothers and sisters in law, nephews and grandnephews - cousins and second cousins. Twenty-five people in all.
And... as we packed up the cars for the trips home, one of my granddaughters thanked us and added “Can’t wait till next year!”
So, that’s how a tradition comes to be.

Nothing better than building Family Tradition!

Glad you can all coordinate such a trip. Our family has dwindled down and lives far apart. Great new tradition.

Nothing better than family traditions and Tanglewood is a great venue!

Nothing quite like fostering family bonds. This tradition and Tanglewood will meld nicely one day. I'm looking forward to a cousins reunion in August.
