Stalker or Mother?

In my blog last week I mentioned that my daughter, and her new husband, very recently went to Greece for their honeymoon.  What I did not mention was how, through modern technology, I was essentially able to check in on them throughout their trip.

First, I was able to track their flight through Flightaware.  My daughter went to SUNY Buffalo so she is very used to me tracking her flights, which I would do when she would fly back to school. She habitually gives me her flight information when she is travelling.

Once she landed, I texted her through WhatsApp to let her know that I knew that she landed safely. Thereafter, as a part of our gift to her, we pay the extra fee for her to use her cell phone while she’s in Europe. Whether that’s a gift to her or me, I’m not sure. But she did text me several times during her trip.

Lastly, I can see her photos as she posts them on Instragram and Snapchat.

It’s difficult to turn off being a Mom even when your child gets married. As long as she, and my son-in-law, don’t mind I’ll continue to keep tabs on them from the discrete distance afforded to me from technology. Any thoughts?

Technology has its advantages. We are all trackable, hopefully for the good. Big Brother is out there too. Glad you have been able to keep tabs without making it uncomfortable for anyone.

Oh, I can only share with you in person my neurotic stalking. There is a reason that we are friends!
