To Everything There is a Season ...

As kids we learned about four seasons: Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring. We even had a TV character named Princess Summerfall Winterspring

Seasons are how we mark time. Ecclesiastes made note of seasons - The Byrds memorialized seasons in song. The seasons offer some degree of certainty – predictable cycles.

Over time we seem to have acquired  new “seasons”  and accept them (I do not)  as though they are inevitable. None, however, enjoy a royal entity to carry the sobriquet.

There is no Princess SummerFall WinterSpring “coldandflu;”

I haven’t heard of a Prince SummerFall “allergy” WinterSpring.

And let’s not forget “the season to be jolly” and not so festive “tax season.”

Last week - with a first pitch and a swing of a bat … Baseball Season began. And as with the original four seasons all we can be certain of is that it will come and go again this year. What happens in between is anybody’s guess.

No doubt things are changing but so far we get to see flowers in the Spring and Fall colors. And of course we also have the hot sultry days of summer and the cool crisp winter nights.

Reading this I can't help but think of the classic Bugs Bunny scene of rabbit season vs duck season.
