Busy

As you may know, this blog is written from far away Key West (an Island under the protection of Uncle Sam) and, to let you in on a secret, it's a little different down here.

They call it the KONK Republic based on a bizarrely unsuccessful attempt to secede from the Union. It was fueled by a populist pervasive passion for non conformity.

Do I belong here? Draw your own conclusions :)

I know I'm happy here in Paradise with Joanne and Charcoal.

Which brings me to the subject of being busy.

One of the things I do every morning is put Charcoal in my bike basket and take her for a bike ride to sample and savor our unique semi tropical environment.

The other day we passed 2 locals busily engaged in conversation and we heard one say to the other "I'm busy, wasting time."

How Key West (and wonderful)!

"I'm busy, wasting time," captures the laid-back and carefree spirit that Key West embodies. It's a reminder that sometimes, in the midst of our busy lives, it's important to take a step back, relax, and appreciate the simple pleasures that surround us.

It reminds me that being busy and doing something meaningful are certainly not the same thing. And as for your question, you belong wherever you are.

As Paul says, we can’t wait to retire - we have so much to do!! Enjoy paradise! Xoxo

Busy doing anything- including nothing is something you have earned….. and do so well . You are a champion at “working” your second life .

You/They are not wasting time; you're making time! Living in paradise will reduce stress and extend longevity. Wintering in FLA and Summering in NYS, is the epitome of a life well lived !

This blog post has convinced me to stay home all day, only moving from bed to fridge and back.
I have a busy schedule as well
make a string bean and white mushroom salad for lunch, re-read my grandfather's memoir about getting stuck in jail in Stuttgart when trying to emigrate , ironing some clothes, and then -finally - going outside to attend "Jazz Night" at the library where I volunteer.

It's a great place to contemplate wasting time. But, that's not your MO!

Love "I'm busy wasting time.". I have a vague notion that Brooklyn, at one point, tried to sucede from New York City, so I guess Key West isn't alone in the desire to be separate.
