Will You Share With Us?

You know those moments – the ones that we all pretend never happened. Here is my most recent entry in the “Book of Embarrassment”.

Last week I had to be up really early on multiple mornings. Early morning is not my favorite, or best, time. By the end of the week, my morning commute was really just an extension of my nighttime sleep.

And then one morning, as we approached Penn Station, I found myself waking up with a start to find my head comfortably nestled on the shoulder of the man sitting next to me. The thing was, he was just waking up too from what seemed to be a fairly comfortable nap. We both looked at each other, didn’t say a word, but simultaneously acknowledged through our silence that the incident would never be spoken about. Of course, it does make good blog fodder.

So, my question for you Gotham today is as follows. Are you brave enough to share an embarrassing story with us? If not, that’s ok too and I am happy for you to commiserate with me in mine.

OK, here goes, as this is family and not that many Tribe members read the blog. I told this to Fred, years ago and he simply refused to believe me. Although this happened a LONG time ago, it still beats any other embarrassing moment I have ever had. Some of you know the story that I dated my neighbor across the hall and later married him. One night, after we were dating for a few months, i locked myself out of my apartment in the middle of the night, probably sleep-walking. As soon as the door clicked shut, I woke up. There I was, in a nightgown with nowhere to turn but to my new date. I rang his bell at 3:00 AM in the morning and at 6:00 AM, we went to my parents house to get the spare keys. You should have seen the look on my mother's face and my father was just standing behind her. After that, I gave my date a key to the apartment. Incidentally, he gave me a raincoat to wear over my nightgown... After that, we both had to go to work.

If you know not, I tell not. If one wants to know something that bad, they need to hang out with me. Ask Shelly; I'll still deny.

I actually asked my "mentor" at my first day of work why she was limping not knowing she was missing a leg.
