Power Lunch ?

We were sitting in a small cafe near the Javits Center on a weekend afternoon. About twelve tables. Free Wi-Fi.

Around us were at least three people on their computers and next to us was a young man working on his computer. A young woman came in and joined him at the small table.

They started talking business and he explained his business model. Sounded like a management meeting. Soon the computer was turned around to share the graphs between them.

Business in the cafe. No “office” necessary. The place of the “power lunch” of the future. Is the martini being replaced by Wi-Fi as the necessary component?

I think our communication devices have changed so rapidly over the past 15 years that business has just started to catch up. I also think the next generation growing up in a wireless world will change the entire concept of the "office" that we've been so used to for so many years. The world will become your office in the future.

I'm in love with the remote connection, which in turn has afforded me the luxury of going to work today in my pj's. If starbucks delivered, I'd be set.

Internet Cafe's with WiFi remain an important component of my son's search for a new place.
