Just Sayings

I had planned to write about Gotham's 13th annual Bob Formica Golf Outing, but Mother Nature intervened on Monday and we were compelled to postpone it until August 19th.

During the course of my reading I oft times coming across a memorable quote which I write down in my diary for future reference.  I call them "Just Sayings" and here is this year's crop to date:

1) Multiply me by about quite a few million and you've got something big (Lady Bird Johnson)

2) Make no little plans, they have no magic to stir men's blood (Daniel Burnham)

3) What would you do if you were'nt afraid (Sheryl Sandberg)

4) Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency? (Joseph N. Welch)

5) Beautiful people have special powers, and that charisma is a form of intelligence (Rachel Kushner)

6) Life is a virtuous circle (Jodi Glickman)

7) A man wears a mask and his face grows to fit it (George Orwell)

8) It's more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what sort of disease a person has (Hippocrates)

10) Don't get bitteer; get better (LL Kool J)

Feel free to chime in with your favorites.  Just sayin'

Wow, never heard #7 before. I love it. My favorite is "Whenever someone says it's not a matter of right and wrong, they're always wrong."

I like #10. That is what I'm doing after all of FK's defamatory statements about me being a DUFFER! I have more time to get a BETTER golf swing due to rain out. Don't miss the great Gotham Golf Event rescheduled 8/19!

Jo doesn't think it is PF

I recently saw the following from the Walt Disney Company:

“If you don't like Cinderella because she seems so "naive" and "weak," consider this, she believed in dreams, all right, but she also believed in doing something about them. When Prince Charming didn't come along, she went over to the palace and got him.”

Loved it!!

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

Mark Twain

I have been studying the traits and dispositions of the "lower animals" (so called) and contrasting them with the traits and dispositions of man. I find the result humiliating to me.

MARK TWAIN, Letters from the Earth

That's all for now
