I am Squeamish

Categories

I realized something about myself this week, I am squeamish. My stepson’s girlfriend recently severely cut her hand, requiring a trip to the hospital and numerous stitches. She was telling my husband and myself about her injury and offered to show pictures of the wound, stitches etc. to both of us.

My husband was very interested in the pictures and looked at them with her. They were both fascinated with them, looking at the wound from different angles. My stepson and I could not look and had to step away. He and I  had the same reaction, “Yuck!!!”

Would you have looked?

I find it fascinating how the human body can heal itself.

If it was important to her I would have, interesting that she wanted to show pictures---did your husband ask?

I find it hard to look at pictures. In the moment if I need to actually do something, I’m better!

I can't stand looking at anything involving blood. Back in the day, I remember shows like MASH that often showed scenes in the OR and I didn't mind it so much. Now, so many police, fire, and, medical shows feel the need to have a camera right in the accident or surgery with blood spraying out or organs bumping and beating. Not my thing and I am not sure who likes that realisitc image.
