Eli

There is so much going on. Sometimes it’s a relief to just talk sports. There is something I don’t like about the Eli Manning situation. The Giants have been awful this season — one of the worse I can remember. Eli, the Giants’ quarterback and long-time face of the franchise, was abruptly told that he would not be starting this Sunday’s fire 210 straight starts over 14 years, Eli has been benched. Call me sentimental, but I remember the great Super Bowl wins brought to us by Eli and company. He’s a great quarterback and he’s been great to New York. If this is the end of Eli in New York, there’s got to be a better way.

If I were Eli, I would run as fast I as could from the utter train wreck that is the NY Giants. Their offensive line is truly offensive and he is lucky to still be walking at this point. Do yourself a favor Eli and find a real team with a commitment to keeping its quarterback upright. Eli would be an upgrade for 75% of the league even at his age.

And the coach McAdoo should have been fired 6 weeks ago and be looking for work as a pop warner coach now which he will be at the end of this dreadful season.

Eli deserved better. He has no Offensive line and no running backs or real receivers. The move may have been necessary at some point, but not the way they did it. He will find a new home by next season. If the Giants had kept him for next season, they would have had to pay him $5 million dollar bonus. They did not want that and upper management decided it was time. I don't think it was a McAdoo decision. They offered Eli to start the games to keep the streak going. Eli took the high road and refused, so they benched him. Very sad to not let him finish the lost season and go out in more fitting manner.

With their lousy offensive line he can't function and the are doing him a favor. Sad, but true.

Your empathy’s showing...
Eli will be fine... he’s such a class act even I like him, and I’m not a football fan.
