Amazon Prime

I noticed that as a result of the merger of Whole Foods and Amazon it was announced that Whole Foods would reduce its prices.

I understand that Whole Foods is more expensive than other food outlets, supposedly due to superior quality.

I must admit that I am not the family shopper.  Joanne is and she's loyal to Whole Foods, especially the meat, but now she's apprehensive re an inevitable fall off in quality or return to higher price.

I thought this was why we have anti trust laws.

It gives new meanings to the catchphrase "Amazon Prime"!

My son and daughter shop there. I will defer to them but my impression is Jeff Bezos reinvests more than a typical owner.

Funny, Ben!
I wanted to love it, but can't say I'm a fan of Whole Foods. I've typically found higher prices for not better quality. Organic and conventional are often fresher and cheaper at the Stop n Shop next door. Watching eagerly and hopeful because I love the yoga vibe and those gorgeous soaps. ;) Will probably stay loyal to my local Korean green grocer.

All I know is that the whole foods parking lot in Jericho is literally the most dangerous driving experience on the planet.

Like Victoria above, I have Whole Foods to more expensive for no better quality than other outlets. Stop and Shop does have a great Organic section for less. If Amazon can get their prices in line with competitors, I am al for it.

Hmm, I seem to be unique in my impression of Whole Foods. We buy only specific products and I find them to be cheaper at Whole Foods then at other supermarkets. Actually price compared and found some less costly then bulk priced at Costco. The organic berries on sale are also a good value especially using the Whole Foods app and coupons. Only big gripe is they are not as vegan friendly as they could be and we often go back and forth between Manhasset and Jericho looking for certain products.

I have mixed feelings about the merger - but generally I agree - monopolies seem to be killing competition quality and charm.

I never cook anymore, so I never go to Whole Foods - when will Amazon buy a restaurant chain?

Maybe they're getting their food from Amazon prime? No shipping costs.

Jeff Bezos up there in Seattle on Terry Road along with Paul Allen . I like to think of it as Silicon Valley North . These guys used to inhabit my neck of the woods . No state income tax in Washington . Makes sense . So Jeff and Paul brainstorm up there on Lake Washington in their Mercer Island mansions maybe around a PS4 platform of Madden 18 . Pete Carroll is coming over with Russell Wilson for beer and burgers . I'm a fly on the wall . Do you think Paul or Jeff wrap their head around failure ? Me not think so ! Can I get a drone to deliver my bagels and lox for a 10:00 am ( PDT) kickoff ? U bet I can ! On any given rainy day you can find me roaming the aisles of Whole Foods looking for an exotic meal to prepare or some honey from bees that roam my redwoods . Fish so fresh it was swimming this morning . Fresh cut flowers and ladies so pretty they stop you in your tracks . Heirloom tomatoes with fresh basil and burrata . Olive oil from Nepal . Nepal has olives ? The whole concept of Amazon and Whole Foods is so futuristic it blows my mind ! Scan this scan that . Right on to your Amazon Prime Card ! Chardonnay from Cakebread winery . Buy a discounted case and it ships same day and gets there before that ! This concept is going to blow everybody else out of the water . Bezos ? Allen ? Gates ? Besides Fred I have one more mentor . Steve Wozniak. He raises Llamas now and prints his own money . He drives his Hummer to the Whole Foods. He carries a green laser pen at all times . "Get the Dover Sole " he says . I get the Dover Sole .
