Favorite meal

I've been asked many times what my favorite meal is and my answer changes each time. Although I do have a couple of favorite restaurants, it has as much to do with the people I'm with as much as the food.

For restaurants, nothing beats the chicken scapriello at Steve's Piccola Busaala, or the steak at Bryant & Cooper and the veal milanese at Trattoria Di Meo. I had some excellent pizza and salad last night at Pizza Beach in the City.

What's even better is that each of those meals I shared with great people...laughing and enjoying the art of sparkling conversation. And sometimes the food experience is heightened by a special ocassion.

And of course there's dessert. Audrey Hepburn once said, "Let's face it, a nice creamy chocolate cake does a lot for a lot of people; it does for me."

The Gotham East clam back was pretty awesome last night. Might be my favorite.

Point about company probably most compelling. Fave dishes certainly cause 2nd and multiple visits. Sometimes good service also makes a nice difference. I have faves by type of establishment, menu and dish.

Nothing is better than my wife's totally homemade Manicotti - she makes the shells from scratch, the filling and of course the sauce! MMMMMMM, now I want some....

Chicken scapriello and chocolate cake!! I'm right there with you. Although, give me the choice of lobster at Jordan's in Island Park and I'll pick that every time.

Burrata, heirloom tomato and fresh basil, medium rare prime rib, crunchy crusted sourdough bread, sauteed spinach and a hearty syrah. No room for dessert, unless it's the hula pie at Kimo's in Lahaina !!!!!

Burrata and my homegrown basil and heirlooms with Balsamic . Bone in Filet on my backyard fire pit over Red Oak and my daughter's Coconut cream pie . Local SANTA Cruz Mountain Pinot Noir from my own grapes. A good single malt and a cigar. No need to dine out . Piano Sonatas by Mozart in the background under the California Redwoods with my wife .
