The Productivity Lie
Today, many people think being busy all the time means they are important. They brag about long hours and huge to-do lists, as if resting makes them weak or lazy. But being busy doesn’t always mean you’re doing something that matters. Sometimes it just means you’re scared of slowing down. When you stop moving, you might notice you don't know what you really want or why you work so hard.
As I've written before, good ideas often come from quiet moments, not from working nonstop. When you take a break, your mind gets space to wonder, imagine, and create. But many people avoid that silence because they’re afraid of seeing who they are without work. The real problem isn’t just being tired. It’s that we use busy schedules to hide from our own questions about meaning and purpose.
Until we face that, we’ll keep thinking being busy makes us better, even when it actually holds us back.
