Do you have Real ID?
The restrictions on domestic air travel without Real ID are finally going into effect on May 7th.
When the topic came up with friends at dinner the other night, I cautiously removed my driver’s license from my wallet. I had no recollection of the last renewal and, in the dim light of the restaurant I couldn’t make out any of its details.
The panic of an anticipated trip to the DMV set in but I put it aside to finish dinner. I would make the appointment another time.
A few days later, I dared to take another look at my license. Miraculously a small American flag appeared in the corner and the label “Enhanced” was visible. A check of the DMV website confirmed that the license complied.
No visits to the DMV for a while.
