Twining
Some of you will know right away what my blog is about.
With the city running out of phone numbers, new area codes pop up with some regularity. In fact, New York City currently has six area codes.
But I remember a time when all of New York City was in the 212 area code and the exchange was tagged by its name first, not by its number. My Brooklyn phone number started with TW1, or Twining 1. I remember a friend whose phone number started CL6 – Cloverdale 6.
Do you remember your first phone number –and did its exchange bear a name or number?

We had a second phone number-that was before the days of call waiting. But I was never allowed to give it to my friends. That was my Dad's business number. Looking back it's funny how 5 of us were able to exist with one phone number but now we have two landlines, each with call waiting, and our kids each have a phone.

Fieldstone but I took the # with me. The only difference is 718 taking over for the 212.
