Midnight

The sign read “No Parking - Friday Midnight - Monday 6am”.
She parked on Thursday evening and found a ticket on her windshield on Friday morning. The ticket was issued at 12:06 a.m. on Friday.
We all know what Midnight means....or do we? That moment between one day and the next.
Lawyers tend to try to avoid confusion -- opting for “11:59 p.m.” or “12:01 a.m.”
So, was she right to park and leave the car that Thursday evening?

My head is spinning, too early to puzzle it out.

Yes, of course she was. The sign didn't say Thursday midnight.
Hmmm, where can she find a good lawyer...?

Interesting because city law established a 5 minute grace period 5 years ago. If it were only 12:05a: http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/minutes-mercy-alternate-side-parking-expired-muni-meter-takes-effect-article-1.175838
