Another glorious perk from being a New York City resident.

Today I applied for my NYCID. Yes, I have a perfectly legal driver's license and even an up-to-date passport, but the NYCID is the gift that keeps on giving.

It was easy breezy, you go to the website: http://www1.nyc.gov/site/idnyc/index.page and set up your appointment.

There are many locations, I went to GMHC on West 33rd St. So convenient.

You fill out a 1 page form with your name, address, height, eye color, nothing difficult or strenuous, they take your picture-mouth closed, show no teeth-and, Voila! you're done.

It can be used as a Library Card, to open a checking account, as a discount prescription card, supermarket discounts, and  a FREE 1 year membership to at least 33 museums and cultural institutions, including: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Bronx Zoo, Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, and the Queens Museum. You don't have to choose, you get membership in ALL of them.

If you are a NYC resident, don't wait get yours ASAP.

I'm looking forward to new found adventures in the greatest city in the world.

I didn't know about it, and am going to click the link in her blog to get mine!

One of my college roommates didn't drive so she had one. Even though she has learned to drive, she still prefers her NYC Id.

The reason for most of us to get it is the first year free at the cultural institutions. Of course you need to be a NYC resident.
