Happy New Year!

Really? Still?

I have an unofficial deadline of January 31.  After that date, I will no longer wish someone I haven’t seen a happy new year.

I have to say though, somewhere around the middle of the month, it starts to feel awkward -- as if the well wishes are just too late and need to wait another whole year before they are expressed again.

What do you think?  What is your cutoff date for extending New Year’s wishes?

I feel as if it is something to say to start a conversation. Also, they may mean Chinese New Year which is just dawning now. You need to use larger font.

It's all a matter of feel, but it's definitely been over for at least a week.

I have to say, it's an issue I never really thought about. Now, this will keep me up tonight. :)

I stop in person within 10 days of the new year. In emails and letters (does anyone still do that), I continue through January if I did not have prior new year contact with the recipient. After the 2nd week I change the new year reference to an actual year reference. I remove the greeting cards "display" the first weekend of the New Year unless New Year's eve occurs on a Friday or Saturday.
