No More Coffee?

I love coffee. That is to say, I love espresso.

Unfortunately, since getting my cholesterol count, I discovered that coffee raises your "bad" cholesterol.

Tea is okay. Sometimes its more than okay.

Sometimes a Chai Tea Latte is almost as good as a "real" latte.

And I do like Earl Grey.

[The Earl Grey blend, or "Earl Grey's Mixture", is assumed to be named after Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey, British Prime Minister in the 1830s and author of the Reform Bill of 1832. He reputedly received a gift, probably a diplomatic perquisite, of tea flavoured with bergamot oil.]

Oh, and I always go decaf, but its not the caffeine which raises the "bad" cholesterol, its the rest of it.

Caffeine has its own issues, I don't need it.

So for today, I'm treadmilling, changing my diet and not taking prescription meds.

I have a great doctor.

My numbers are improving.

So, when I meet you for coffee, (I'm buying!) I might have espresso, but I'll probably just go with the tea.

A revolution of my own.

What's in your cup?

“I say let the world go to hell, but I should always have my tea.”
Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Notes from Underground

I drink one cup of coffee in the morning while I'm getting ready for work. But for two months now, I've replaced my work coffee with hot Bigelow organic green tea unsweetened. I did it for the antioxidants and the metabolic benefits but I have no diagnosed health problems. So far so good. I've begun to enjoy the smooth flavor and look forward to my two cups of green tea every day.
Good luck on your goal to reduce your cholesterol.

Besides chocolate my other passions are tea and coffee. It's a ritual to make loose tea brewed in a Japanese cast iron pot and then when it's coffee time. The Italian grinder emerges (15 lbs), and cappuccino is made from imported beans. Once a day for both. I hope that this is in moderation, as I would not want any bad cholesterol to ruin a good thing. BTW - a small piece of fine dark chocolate goes with the cap!

I'm with Fred. After the game last night, I'm on my second cup of coffee. I like flavored coffee. I'm far from a connoisseur. Keurig cups are good enough for me. Right now drinking pumpkin spice.

Also like tea. When I have tea, it's English Breakfast in the morning and flavored herb tea at night. Never have caffeine past 1:00 p.m.

At home I brew French Road Cinnamon Hazelnut by Porto Rico. For when I have guests i have their regular brews.

I'm a VERY BAD Colombian! Rarely drink coffee, only have Cappuccino at special events. I drink varied teas incessantly, loose leaf & bags of Bigelow or Stash for the extra Bergamot in their Earl Grey blend. At home one cabinet is filled with tons of varied teas so if want tea you have an open invite to my home :)
