Kim Kardashian

I can't believe I am writing about Kim Kardashian. I must have a fever, or restricted blood flow to my head. But when I was browsing new biographies in the bookstore yesterday, there was a new book about her life. I picked it up, I don't know why, and then quickly put it down and rubbed my hands clean on my shirt.

Kim Kardashian may be very nice in person, I have no idea. You have to give her credit where it is due: she was a nobody who does nothing and made herself into a household name.  I suppose with such a popular TV show there have got to be people out there who want to read her biography.  Good thing for them it is a short book.

I kept browsing. There was a biography of Marilyn Monroe. That looked interesting and I made a mental note to think about getting that. I could put it on my shelf next to Joe DiMaggio. Further along I saw a biography of Frances Perkins.  I wonder how many people who watch The Kardashian show even know who she was.

So...which book did you buy?

Give the clan, many say the mom, for the marketing. Besides the (infamous?) sex tape, no doubt the ex step-dad's celebrity (prior to the transformation) helped some as did marriages and relations to capable to very good ballplayers.

I agree with Corey that they are marketing geniuses. But I wish the Kardashians would use their superpowers for good. Imagine what would happen if Kim sent out one tweet asking each of her followers to donate $1 to breast cancer awareness?

I am aware of the Kardashians' existence, but don't really know anything about what they do. My children assure me that I haven't missed anything.
