Halloween

We are getting the grandchildren for Halloween this year. They are staying the weekend. Beth, who will be three in December, is going to be a ballerina. Little Noah, who will turn one tomorrow, will wear a cute little pumpkin costume.

It has been a long, long time since I have gone trick or treating with little ones. When my children were youngit was very easy and convenient in the city. Just a couple of floors in our apartment building netted enough candy to last for weeks. And we didn't even have to go outside.

This year we will be trick or treating in Greenwich, so it will be going door to door to houses, hit or miss.  Do we have to collect for UNICEF?  Do kids do that anymore?

Rarely in my neighborhood in Long Island. There are many homes that go by the honor system, leaving a big bowl of candy outside. But with it landing on a weekend day, there will likely be more live hand outs. Always a fun but tiring day. I still enjoy seeing the different and best homemade costumes. Those kids get a little extra when I am handing out the candy,

We used to take Jonathan and Marisa to my in-laws in Glen Oaks. Growing up in another Garden Apt complex it was also easy to ring bells and not cross a street. Maybe I'll post my safety tips I would ghost write for the Electeds I served. At breakfast my father in law mused what he should be as he welcomed treaters; I suggested that Wizard from Oz. We have a wedding that day themed for the day. Shelly says she is wearing all black. My orange hanky and Mets colors stripe tie

OMG!! I used to collect for UNICEF every year. I haven't been asked for money from a trick or treater in many many years.

We just bought our candy for Halloween. Our block is a very popular block. And, since its a Saturday, we bought five huge bags. I'll save some for Beth and Noah. :)

What tricks did you pull when you were a boy?
