Being from the pre Baby Boomer Silent (who knew) Generation there have been many big changes over my lifetime.

For instance:
1) Computers, the Internet-social media
2) No Smoking in restaurants, etc.
3) Legalized Abortion
4) integration (Obama)
5) Gay rights
6) World wide economy (foreign cars)
7) Beatles-Stones
8) Global warming (flooding)
9) Cable TV
10) Sushi
11) Walmart, Home Depot
12) Renewed racial unrest-gun violence

And then there are zip and bar codes, cell phones, GPS, the Designated Hitter and what else?

We all love the expedience of technology and information but sadly it controls our lives. It's making an increasingly impersonal society.......people are 'wired in' and don't 'speak' enough to one another... kids don't 'play outside'..... punchball, stickball, etc;

what goes around comes around. First came the computer - it took up a whole room with a window on 40th & Third - you pressed enter & went to lunch - now you carry it in your pocket - First came Dick Tracy's watch - now the cell phone, etc, etc, etc

I used to shoot 8mm film with no sound where I would have to flip over the film roll in a dark place to expose the other side and then wait 2 weeks for it to be developed...

The loss of simplicity. That's my take on it. Back in the day when Ike was our president I felt free. Probably because I was A kid. The San Francico mint was still minting Lincoln Head pennies! I had playing cards and clothes pin making my Schwinn sound like a Dc-6 taking off from Idlewild. Not a care in the world watching Uncle Mility on the Texaco Star Theater on Tuesday night . A school night. No beauracracy for me and freedom for thought by God . I was naive to the problems of race just a few states below me. Ignorant to Nikita Kruschev banging his shoe on the desk at the U.N and a guy named Fidel Castro. What did I know ? I was a kid and life was simple and The Yanks were champs year after year. I can smell the gum on Yogi Berra's baseball card.
