The Interview

Categories
Movies

The first screenings of this comedy were finally aired last Wednesday at midnight but only through independent movie theaters.

On Thursday morning it was listed as the No. 1 seller on YouTube Movies and the Google Play store.

The Interview has now become a symbol of free speech. People were dressed in red, white and blue to go view the movie and many theaters reported sell outs.

It has received mixed to negative reviews. Will you go see it?

I will read the reviews and then decide...but I must say, I am very happy that Sony released it and that the movie theatres are not being cowed and that Americans are going to see it regardless of the threats. I'm proud of the U.S. after all. -- Lynn Amos

It is my patriotic duty to see it, to show that Americans will not bow to terrorism, however I will make sure to see it in a way where SONY (the WIMPS) will not derive direct income

I plan to see it today (Saturday) with several of my friends, not because I am a fan of this kind of movie, but because I want to make a political statement that I will not live in fear. After all, I am a New Yorker living in NYC! Dr. Gerald Goldhaber

I'm sure one day I will watch it on Netflix - however it's not the type of film I will go to a movie theatre and see ("In to the Woods," I definitely will see this week.) Having said this I am glad we have not caved in to rogue terrorist. - we must support free speech!

My sons rented it and I tried to watch it with them - I felt I had to - TRIED is the key word - let me know how it ends

I bought it on Google Play. It was pretty hilarious. It's on par with Team America World Police...sophomoric humor.

I'm glad it's streaming, for all the patriotic & tech reasons. Plus, it's expensive to see such a movie in theatres; I rather reserve that for something more cinematic like Into the woods. My parents used to call such a throwaway movie an "HBO movie" Now, I call it a VOD movie! I'm a fan of Rogen so I'll eventually indulge.

I will watch it when it gets to Netflix

I will see it; question is when. Shelly has another movie (maybe more) ahead of it. I might watch it at home because I can and it might be suitable for when Shelly is off.

Why see a bad, stupid movie? It makes no sense as wasting time and money to see a movie already deemed as bad just makes no sense. Hey, don't we have better things to do? Bambe Levine

So many more important things to do than see a bad movie. If you want to be patriotic, buy a police officer or soldier a drink or a meal next time you see one in a restaurant. Or simply thank them for their service. Seeing a bad movie isn't patriotic, just a waste of our limited time here.

Eventually, people themselves will limit its run and it will end up only on Netflix or cable free movie section, probably within a month.

I'm pretty confident the whole thing was a hoax -- the initial reviews of the movie were deservedly poor and someone concocted a promotional story that had substantial effect. http://gawker.com/a-lot-of-smart-people-think-north-korea-didnt-hack-sony-1672899940

Now this movie is both a "Christmas movie" and a symbol of free speech and patriotism... for no really good reason. We streamed it at home this weekend and it had a few chuckles, but nothing I'd watch again. But they did get my $6 :-(
