ReGifting

Categories
Holidays

I don't know how long it has been going on (I suspect many used spears were passed around by forward thinking Neanderthals), but I think reGifting is a great practice and venerable tradition.

Everyone drives a "Previously owned" car and lauds recycling as a "Save The World" necessity, but for some incomprehensible reason their first cousin is frowned upon.

Well, it is time for this down-low practice to come out of the cold and into the light. No more shame and sneaking.

I believe I  have found my calling and movement. Feel free to consider me the George Washington of reGifting. And as my first act of emancipation I hereby pledge that ALL of my Holiday gifts this season will be marinated or aged in the wood.

In fact, there is a very good chance that you will see this blog again next year!

I totally agree - let's take it further - why don't we bring our unwanted gifts to angst ham meeting put them on a table - annonymously - and I something strikes your fancy - claim it. It's a win win :)

Visionary!
I've taken it one step further.
I neither give nor receive gifts based on any man made holidays.
Except love.

I wonder how many comments this blog will garner next year.

I love to give gifts. Anonymous or not. It makes me feel good . On the other hand . I hate receiving them . At this time of year I outdo myself . But the thought of opening a gift for myself is abhorrent. Why I wonder ? Am I not worthy ? Will I be disappointed and smile that fake " Oh wow! Thanks! " Ugh. I'd rather please others. I'm not so easy to please. The holidays are a fantastic time of giving ! Getting ? Not so sure. Re gifting ? UGH ! Is this our first fight ?

I see nothing wrong with re-gifting as long as the recipient will like it and the giver will never find out. I would hate to hurt the feelings of anyone who took the time and trouble to pick out something just for me. I also go through gifts I've received and never used and donate them. If I don't need or like something, there's some one who will need and like it.
