A Losing Battle

There are many things in my office that aggravate me.  Mostly it is the piles of paper that never seem to go away -- like an annoying child.  They just get moved around or replaced by another pile.  Our carpeting has to be replaced, and there is a piece of metal that was sticking out on my desk that scratched my brand new chair.  Working can be a bitch.

But what drives me crazy most of all is the twisted telephone chord.  Our phones are old (yes, I know Al the Gotham phone guy) and we are going to get new ones. But until then, a bad day is made worse when I have to yank on the twisted chord just to get the reciever to my ear.  I finally get to the point where I have to untwist by unplugging the hopeless chord, standing on a chair, and allowing it to unwind itself.   That works for a little while.  But I watch it, but it slowly torutures me and twists back even worse than before.  It knows I am watching. And it is beating me.

I use Speaker only and what does "torutures" mean? Sounds sexy and exotic!

You use a real phone? Try the untethered world and get a headset.

That is so annoying...I don't know of any solution other than hands free talking. But then everyone in the office can hear it.

I use wireless phone system. And at times the speaker phone option (included) when others are not anywhere in earshot. I recall the days of unwinding phones and I used to employ 15-20 received cords so I would not be stuck to the desk. I would unwind the cord periodically. I even got one of those gizmos supposed to prevent the tangled cords; imperfect.
BTW, replaced my carpet with a ceramic floor. Much easier to keep clean and one remains allergic to dust......
As to the piece of metal, one of the tools I "inherited" after grandpa sold his home more than a quarter century ago is a metal cutting scissor; I used it I think three times. I do not believe I retained any of the items that got cut. I'll lend you it and the metal filing rods and may you endure that jutting metal no more. Short term bunch up some cotton and seal will duct tape.

A phone with a cord? What is that? Something new? I must run right out and buy one...where? Reminds me of one day long ago when I was at my mother's house and she had a phone with a dial. My daughters friend came over and wanted to call home. She picked up the phone and had no idea what to do and she said..."oh, you have a new phone. Ours is old it has push buttons."

Ugh!! I hate the twisted phone cord. I feel your pain. Lately, it's generally enough to mess up my whole day.
