Is There an App For That?

Last Sunday, I went to Eataly with my twenty-three year old daughter, Calli, my college roommate, Sharon and her twelve year old daughter, Rachel. In planning this excursion, we all agreed that dessert would be Nutella crepes at the Nutella Bar located in Eataly. Having arrived at Eataly first, my daughter and I did a quick exploration of the famed food hall. During our first lap around, we were unable to find the Nutella Bar.

After Sharon and Rachel joined us and we sat down for lunch, we questioned our waiter about the location of the Nutella Bar. We were disappointed to hear that the Nutella Bar no longer existed. It was, however, replaced by a Nutella cart that travels throughout Eataly. The four of us decided that, after lunch, we would find the Nutella cart.

Steadfast in our resolve to have our Nutella treats, after we finished lunch, we roamed throughout Eataly looking for the cart. It took us about an hour, and several other purchases, to finally locate the cart and satisfy our Nutella urges.

In relaying this story to another friend, she told me that she believed there was a phone app that tracks the location of the Nutella cart. While I enjoyed exploring the food hall looking for the cart, I am sure I would have saved a lot of money in the other purchases I made during our expedition, if such an app existed and I knew to use it.

Which brings me to two questions, what are your favorite apps and if you could create an app to do anything what would it be?

One of my favorite apps is HopStop. If you need directions with several alternatives getting around NYC, this is a must-have.

I am a freak for the Health apps. At the gym I go crazy tracking my heart rate and calorie burn. I use the Polar app, Endomondo, my fitness pal, motionX to track my sleep. It's all there! Then of course there all the banking apps like Amex and Chase that I l love. Oh and TripIt for when I travel! I also use NextStop to see how long until the next subway arrives.

Nutella is a hazelnut based chocolate flavored spread. Great on bread, crackers, crepes or just out of the jar.

I have refused to even try Nutella. I am firmly convinced that I will love it and become obsessed about it. In th end not a good thing.

Probably my calendar since I it helps me organize and manage my life accordingly. Any app to matter needs to be on my first screen. I also like my nest thermostat app. And I like Hazelnut and chocolate so Nutella works for me but rarely finds its way here.

I would create an app that allows men and women to look at pictures of each other on line and then connect with people for sex when there is a mutual attraction...wait am I a week behind...perhaps I should re-read Don's blog about time travel.
