My Second Ticket

I try. I really do. But it is hard to keep track of all of the school zones in my neighborhood. And to make it worse, they are barely marked. But, since the local law changed recently, none of that really matters. Anyone who lives or works in Nassau County knows what I am talking about.

The whole thing makes little sense to me and particularly since children are nowhere to be found in several of the zones I have seen. I am also reasonably convinced that these slow zones actually create greater hazards when drivers are forced to quickly brake to comply.

I will pay my tickets and probably re-route my ordinary travels in order to avoid another one. Don’t get me wrong, I do understand and agree with the idea that driving around schools should be cautious but there has to be a better way.

Clearly better signage a must -- raise it with town officials. Be that Squeaky wheel!
I would probably re-route.

Got my second in mail yesterday also and agree, will reroute. Ugh!

I have re-routed after getting 2 tickets as well. There were no signs posted anywhere to be seen, but there is lots of money being collected!

For me, its the red light cameras. I've gotten two in the same place on a route I always travel to work. Knowing the lights the way I do, I've made right on red turns without doing a full stop. No cop would have given me a ticket for it. I now travel a different route to work.

Our politicians are scoundrels. I can't wait to see the first politician who runs for office on the promise that they'll get rid of speed/red light cameras. I wonder what the political ramifications would be positively and negatively.
