Apple missed the boat

Or did they...

Last Tuesday we witnessed the much anticipated launch of the iPhone 6 with bigger screens. Most people I talk to are preordering them. They even launched something unexpected...ApplePay. Now, once you've scanned your credit card into your iPhone, you'll be able to just point click and pay at participating retailes everywhere.

But that's not why I say they missed the boat. Apple introduced the AppleWatch. A very elegant device that can do everything your phone can plus much, much more. Very cool and it's only $349 ;) However when Tim Cook, the Pres., told us when it will be available he said early 2015 then moved on really quickly. How can you introduce something so cool and not have it available for this Christmas season?

Is this one of those Apple calculated moves? I don't think so. Tim moved on so fast from letting us know when it will be available you could tell he was a bit embarassed.

What do you think and are you buying an iPhone 6?

Can't wait for 6 Plus -- will move my portfolio over to 6 Plus from my iPad -- so I will not have to carry around 3 devices…..those of us who are out of the office a great deal, this is a blessing!

I suspect pre-order or gift cards in the offing for the Apple Watch at holiday gift time. More interesting or just plain smart, one needs an iPhone to make owning the watch useful. I am very interested in the new phone; I even more interestedly await and anticipate the new operating system. I qualified as a beta tester but followed my son's recommendation (order???) not to do it -- there would be issues in backing up the phone to the mac with the incompatibility and I rather intertwined everything. As some who interacted with me in person know, I made a rather smart decision to listen. One issue I need to determine remain iPad or new iPhone or both (and theoretically I can replace this MacBook Pro as well -- either very soon or early in the new year remain the two options according to all-knowing son.); the "Anonymous" post above speaks to my "dilemma" of sorts. So everything remains a question of when.

I wish they could come up with a universal charger and system. That would be great....

No doubt the lack of a universal charger and similar constants is by design, forcing consumers to spend additional money for specialized accessories whenever they get new devices. (When is enough profit enough?)

For those concerned about chargers Duracell has the answer (it will be installed in every Starbucks Store):
The DURACELL PowerMat wireless charging pad and PowerCase battery case together make powering and protecting your iPhone 5s a breeze. The PowerCase’s built-in 2000 mAh battery provides up to 100% extra battery power, while shielding your iPhone from nicks and bruises. The PowerMat lets you recharge your iPhone and PowerCase wirelessly by simply placing them on the mat—no need to plug in your iPhone. And if you're at a different location from the PowerMat, you can also recharge your iPhone and PowerCase with a micro USB cable through the USB port on the case.
