Going Home

Like many others, we are back from an end-of-summer vacation. Last week, we were at one of our favorite places -- Martha’s Vineyard -- to which we have returned almost every summer for many, many years.

When we go to MV, there’s a “Happy Ferry” which takes you to the Vineyard and a “Sad Ferry” which takes you back to the mainland.

As we packed the car on our last day, Flo told our friends that we were going to the Sad Ferry.

He asked “why is it sad?”

“Because it takes us off the Island.”

Our friend asked “but won’t you look forward to coming back?”

“Sure!” was Flo’s answer.

“Well then, if you don’t leave the Island, you won’t be able to come back.”

I thought about his words as I drove to the Ferry and smiled. Maybe its not a Sad Ferry after all.

End of vacation, end of Summer, it' sad,,,

Beautiful Fall is coming! What is sad is how quickly the time goes and I still can waste it if I'm not paying attention.

SAD as in "Summer's Almost Done" -- that's all. Just turn the page to new kinds of fun (after all even work can be fun (No knives please -- :).).

There is always, Always, ALWAYS something to be happy about. When I get sad thinking about a vacation ending, I remember how happy I will be sleeping in my own bed at home.
