Endless Summer

Do you remember the ground breaking surfing movie "Endless Summer"?  It was memorable and beautiful. As has been this amazing Summer.

At the start, when I heralded it with my classic "Summer Time, Summer Time" blog, I had no idea how wonderful and enjoyable it would be. In a word it has been historic.

In all my many years there has never, ever been a Summer such as this.

One might wonder whether it has been payback for our horrible polar vortex Winter. Put together they just might average out to "normal" weather, but these drastic extremes have been as far from normal as can be.

All I can say with September 21 being Summer's last day, there is some Summer still to come and that it is my earnest hope that this uniquely endless Summer keeps on Giving!

I honestly believe that it was the worst winter I can ever remember and the absolute best summer I can ever remember. Hardly any rain, but because no scorching days in the 90's the lawns held up well. Constantly in the 80's and sunny every day!!!!!!!!!@

And of course many have some BBQ's and other nice doing starting perhaps as early today.

I start the weekend with the Mets (Thx Scott Bloom).

Because of weekends I tend to extend summer into the fall so mine may not "end" until at least Glenn Tilbrook (from Squeeze) play the Irridium on the last Saturday in October, or maybe even the following Monday when we see the Allmans at the Beacon.

After all, how can one not enjoy Indian Summer:

Summer of my dreams!...low humidity=no frizz!
When can you remember no one complaining about the weather for an entire summer and people just enjoying the bliss?

Though I worked almost every weekend this summer/ 2 jobs - I must say I enjoyed the balmy temperatures. Work had me visiting my home listings in Mattituck and I took every advantage of enjoying the "North Fork". Hoping for Indian Summer!

It was Labor Day that got in the way for me. Still another 3 weeks left but it ended for me on Labor Day. Kind of still does. School started. Pools were drained. Parents got bitchy again. Routine started. I live in an endless summer. September and October are the best months on the Left Coast. The marine layer is out and temperatures remain in the daytime eighties. I keep it going and barbecue 12 months a year. Surf is always up. The dogs and I are at the beach every morning . Fresh fish from Stagnaro Brothers as the boats come in. Hawaii is only a 4 hour plane ride. Now THAT'S an endless summer. You have Key West. I have Lahaina. I DO NOT put my baseball glove away EVER. I'm married to a tall, leggy , tan blonde with blue eyes. So it's fun, fun, fun til my daddy takes the T-Bird Away !!!

Forever Labor Day meant school was just around the corner..... Old habits die hard but I am learning to appreciate certain aspects of these Golden Years. The weather has been extraordinary and Summer does extend beyond the holiday....the light and temperature are perfect and I do not have to go to school.

You're right, Fred. This was an excellent summer. Part of my family's summer meant going to winter in Australia and New Zealand. But the weather was generally nice there, too. LJM
