Think wearable art is cool...now in addition to Google Glass, an Indian company is going to start selling shoes that sync up with a smartphone app that uses Google maps and vibrates to tell you where to turn.

Just tell your phone where you want to go and then you can leave it in your pocket because the buzzing in your left or right shoe will lead the way.

The company had initially developed the shoes for the blind and impaired but found that tourists or athletes can use them so they don't have to constantly check their phones...just feel their way.

This gives rise to a ton of other stuff. How about underwear that buzzes when your health app on your phone says you have to go. Or a hat that buzzes when you didn't keep your head still while swinging a golf club. Or...

I'd like one that will tell me the level of consciousness in the people around me, the Awareness app.

My husband, who is not a city person. likes to use a GPS in the city, even though I assure him I know exactly how to get where we're going. I always tell him that he looks like a tourist and is going to get mugged. Maybe I'll get him a pair of the shoes to keep him safe.

There remain certain things I want to absorb, perhaps including the landmarks where I make turns either in a car or on foot. I find technology generally cool and helpful, certainly in terms of my calendar, my writing, ease of access to contacts, and generally bringing structure to my work much more quickly than some of the older ways. And it does not hurt to have the ability to access most of the music I own wherever I may be, especially in the car; it was something I sought solutions for since my 1967 Chevy Impala convertible.
