Today is the Wimbledon men's finals.  It is going on right now, in fact.  The finalists are our two favorite players, Djokovic and Federer.  Who to root for?

I asked Eve, she said she has no favorite to win.  I told her she had to.  She said no, she is not rooting for either one over the other.  What if I told you that you had to pick one or I would kill you, I asked her.  She said then she would flip a coin.   Good answer.

Or would it really be left to chance?  I am reminded of a Grook by Piet Hein.  It goes like this:

Whenever you're called on to make up your mind

and you're hampered by not having any

the best way to solve the dilemma you'll find

is simply by spinning a penny.

No - not so that chance shall decide the affair

While you're passively standing there moping,

but the moment the penny is up in the air

you suddenly know what you're hoping.

So true....so I flipped a penny in the air just so I would not get murdered. Guess what I forgot to call what I wanted so I guess I really don't care...I'm with Evie...may the best man win..

Not following at this time but happy for those that care. I note it created some chatter on the sports listserve. As did soccer which does not generally move me to watch.
Anyone recall when all that matter was having the time to go out an play whatever the sport of the moment would be with your friends?

I still root for McEnroe. I remember hen he was playing, the tennis courts had a three hour wait on Friday nights. Don't think I've seen them filled in 20 years.
