July 6th
Today is the Wimbledon men's finals. It is going on right now, in fact. The finalists are our two favorite players, Djokovic and Federer. Who to root for?
I asked Eve, she said she has no favorite to win. I told her she had to. She said no, she is not rooting for either one over the other. What if I told you that you had to pick one or I would kill you, I asked her. She said then she would flip a coin. Good answer.
Or would it really be left to chance? I am reminded of a Grook by Piet Hein. It goes like this:
Whenever you're called on to make up your mind
and you're hampered by not having any
the best way to solve the dilemma you'll find
is simply by spinning a penny.
No - not so that chance shall decide the affair
While you're passively standing there moping,
but the moment the penny is up in the air
you suddenly know what you're hoping.
