New car

My 2008 Saab 93 has over 157,000 miles and is showing signs of age. She is consuming oil and coolant and is a bit noisy while going over bumps.

We've been through a lot together. Trips as far south as South Carolina and as far north as Buffalo. I spend so much time in my car, it's kind of like a second home. It's also the preferred vehicle for the Traveling Willbury's...with all the lively banter and laughs that we enjoy.

Since I'm a stick shift guy, my choices are unfortunately limited. Here's the selection so far:

Volvo S60 T5

Subara Legacy

Mazda 6

Buick Regal (yes it does come in a standard transmission)

BMW 328i

What do you think? Any other suggestions?

Just make sure there is room in the back for Cindy and Corey!

Well, BMW is always sexy… Volvo is strong and durable…. I'm not crazy about Mazda (i think they lost their popularity long time ago)… I personally don't have any idea about Subara or Buick. But i'm sure you are an expert already and will pick the best one for yourself at the end :)

Drive them all and you will know the way to go.

BMW all the way baby, unless the Volvo is a convertible.
BMW service and maintenance is incredible. You will be spoiled and you deserve especially since you have to put up with Fred singing in the front.
Corey and I will be fine!
Now let's talk colors....

Have you examined your devotion to the stick shift?

btw since we unfortunately don't have the ability to creatively comment anymore, the last comment was not by me but rather by Sigmund Freud, who does not have his own profile

I've always enjoyed driving a stick Erik (or Sigmund:) I've had one car with an automatic and driving it put me to sleep. Driving a manual shift requires two feet and two hands, it's fun and there's nothing like downshifting to pass someone.

My Audi Q7 had 109,000 miles. Just traded it in for an A5 convertible, which you can get in stick shift.

I know you like a car that maneuvers real well. Some crossover SUVs do that well and I humbly request you consider them to provide the rear seat Willburys a bustle more room.
Even before reading your blog i thought of this song but then you even lifted the opening lyrics:
Studio version: http://tiny.cc/fiq8hx
live: http://tiny.cc/tmq8hx
live but with the two "boys" whose vocals got erased on what was supposed to be a CSNY LP but morphed into just the "Still-Young Band": http://tiny.cc/raq8hx.
LONG MAY YOU RUN!
