Cup Half Full

Over the years I have become much more of an optimist.  It has become much easier to see the cup as half full instead of half empty.  This may be as a result of retraining my brain, or maturing, or maybe not really caring about what I used to think was important and now I realize is not.

On a vacation I would sometimes worry more about the fact that it would be ending in a few days, instead of just enjoying those few days.  Or more typically I would see what I did not have instead of what I do have.   These days those things do not really bother me.  I am quite content, with or without, though my new convertible helps.

The struggle still persists though on one particular matter.  Daylight.  I cannot shake the fact that starting today, the sun is heading back south, away from us.  To put it really badly, winter is on its way.  I stood on the beach yesterday at noon and saw my shadow barely visible underneath me.  Starting now it gets longer.  Now that is enough to ruin a nice summer day.

So much for cup half full.

I agree with you re 6/21, but it does harken our Summer of Giving and that's a very good thing!

I've always been a half full guy though lately it looks like it's just midway...

Isn't it wonderful how Fred turned this around? Now there is a guy who thinks the cup is 1/2 full all the time....your cup, my friend, flowest over!

I call it at least 1/2 full. Always better to see the light and enjoy optimism. Does not mean where situations warrant I share concern with others but the facts on the ground justify "raising awareness" to certain situations. The reality, looking back -- and I shared this with others, another path back when I started out and I likely would not have met, let alone married Shelly and thus be the dad to Jonathan and Marisa. I cannot justify making the tradeoff if given the chance to retake certain roads.

How about a glass filled with something up to the halfway mark? Not taking a position about it help me stay tuned to what's now instead of an earlier thought.

Let's go half full and turn that around a bit... Vacation and Worry or the expectation of things ending before it's time is due is a shanda... Enjoy the journey and not the destination. Vacation time is well deserved... life is to be lived...every moments counts because right now we have now... one second later it is gone. Do Not loose the precious moments... You never know which moment might be your last so live every moment with fullness... it might be your last... Have no regrets
