A Family Food Tour

What does it say about my family that our vacations turn into a food tour?

This past week we visited my son and his girlfriend. They live in Southern Virginia.  We were there for shy of four days – including a full 24 hours of a fasting holiday.

Yet somehow, we cooked two huge (delicious) meals, enjoyed a new brunch spot serving potato pancakes and “nosh” (we had to ask for that to be repeated twice), grilled to our hearts content at a Japanese steakhouse, and had great burgers and wings at a super fun sports bar.

We do enjoy our food.  But moreso, we appreciate the time spent around the food.  The meal is our opportunity to sit and spend focused time talking, catching up, laughing  and planning for the future.  And so, I can’t wait for our next meal together.

Love to eat and try new places. Always looking to add to my reviews on Google Maps, but the food is the reason.

Sharing culinary travel adventures with ones family can only further enhance the bonds of shared discovery, palate-pleasing delight, conversation and relationship. Bon Appetit!

We love to do food tours when we're traveling. Doing an all dessert one in Vienna when we go on the river cruise in November. I'm thinking it will be my favorite tour of the trip!!!!

Food and family go together. Whenever we go to Boston to visit our kids, finding new restaurants and places to eat with them is always a highlight. Good thing it's a walking city so we can walk off all our eating.
