Two Displays, Not Available

So a funny thing happened on X last week.  At least I thought so. Daughter Marisa texted a link to a post to X by Politico's Jeff Coltin that included a pic of buttons a former City Council Member and State Senator from my home borough of Queens posted for sale on Facebook.  Marisa noticed some of the buttons also "appear" in my two collections displayed in my office.  I responded to Marisa that, after I read about the sale that morning's in an e-newsletter from Politico, I pondered selling my collections subject to the "approval" of my children (Marisa, for example, wants my vinyl record collection.). Marisa replied "prefer you do not."  Of course, I agreed.

I subscribe to a few e-newsletters that link to news stories from those and other sites. Jeff's "blurb" in that morning's Politico also noted the former City Council Member and State Senator selling a proclamation (not one of his) on Facebook, and, relevant to this commentary, also selling campaign and issue buttons.  I did not bother to view the buttons and "proc" when I read about that morning.  But I did click the link to Jeff's X that Marisa texted.

Since I know Jeff i decided to reply to his tweet (as a post to X was called pre-Elon Musk mis-ownership of the site):

"My daughter @Marisa_Bearak noticed my two displays show some of these and requests I make no effort to dispose of either collection."  I included the pics in my post (Please see below.):

Button display outside office closet

button display below my bar admission.

Jeff re-posted my post.  Marisa re-posted it with a comment (You'll have to click the link.).

So if, like my colleague Ardian responded on X, you have an interest in any of the these buttons pictured above, you need to convince my daughter to "share" (And good luck at that!!).

Quite a colllection. It's hard to part with items collected over a period of time, especially if a family member is interested in it.

I have been giving them away. Except for the last few JFK pins and some slogan buttons that are still (sadly) relevant.
We have a button machine so we make our own -- with obscure references and jokes.

The ones on your tuxedo shirt don't count, and there aren't any on your t-shirt collection.
