Honeymoons

My daughter and her husband are currently in Greece on their honeymoon. Wikipedia defines a honeymoon as  “a holiday taken by newlyweds after their wedding to celebrate their marriage.”

My husband and I took two honeymoons. It’s a second marriage for both of us wherein we were blending a family of two children each. So, immediately, after we got married, we went alone together to Las Vegas for a few days. Thereafter, we took all four children on a cruise for our “family honeymoon.”

Our instincts to take two honeymoons worked perfectly for our family. The few days alone in Las Vegas gave us time to relax and recharge. The cruise, on the other hand, really helped to bring our family together and make the children feel that they were part of the process of blending the two families.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

My wife and I went on a second honeymoon. This time I went to the bathroom and cried.

We never took a real getaway when married, but did spend a few nights in Hawley, PA. For our 10th Anniversary, we went to Vegas and remapped some of the spots we went when I got engaged to her. We even replicated the restaurant dinner I proposed at the Paris Hotel. Finished the trip with a helicopter ride into and landed in the Grand Canyon. It was a great trip.

We went to Hawaii (Oahu, Kauai and Maui) for two weeks for our honeymoon. No cell phones back then and basically no way to be contacted - how nice was that!

That must have been very cool. Although not sure I would have done that with my fear of flying.
