The Neptune Resort Motel

As a young child my family took me to Miami Beach. We stayed at the Neptune Resort Motel, which, I recently learned, was on Collins Avenue at 159th Street in the long-since demolished Motel Row (and has been replaced by high-rise condos).
Our trips were an annual family vacation ritual.
Until a few weeks ago, when we stayed at a hotel in South Beach, I hadn’t been back to actually stay in Miami Beach since those childhood visits.
At our South Beach hotel there was a small breakfast/lunch place with turquoise and peach colored flooring with post cards on the walls.

I was back in Miami Beach and, sitting in a booth having breakfast, I was a kid back at the Neptune Resort Motel.

Indeed. Very different, especially up where the motels used to be.
South Beach has held on to some of the charm of old.
