Strolling

It seemed like a fun idea, and it was.

Saturday night we went to see an 80’s cover band.  Two full hours of rocking to a playlist that took us back to a very different time – even back to the 70s.

A little Bon Jovi, Journey, Van Halen, Culture Club. And then a full eight and one half minutes of Paradise by the Dashboard Light.

Were we singing?  You bet – for virtually the whole two hours.  Some of our fellow concert goers had clearly seen this show before since after yelling and screaming from the audience, they literally charged the stage to dance right at the edge with the performers.

Frankly, age didn’t matter.  Our fellow concert goers ranged from 20’s to 80’s and everything in between.

My voice isn’t hoarse anymore. But it did take two days.

You rock!!! Totally resonate. Went to a graphic awards ceremony last week at the Society of Illustrators for David Byrd who illustrated for The Filmore East, headliners like Jimmy Henrix, Tommy & the Who, Woodstock and ultimately Warner Bros. Hearing the first hand narrative from this octogenarian took this Boomer back to the days I hung out with Henrix' girlfriend & groupies at Sara Churchill's villa overlooking Montego Bay (weeks before he o'ded); shooting a film with Rich Havens in Woodstock... to meeting Pete Seeger at Newport, and interviewing Andy Warhol when I headed Advertising for Paramount Pictures.
