President Clinton authorized the appointment of a special prosecutor in early 1994 concerning the Whitewater matter and in August 1994, the original special prosecutor was replaced by Kenneth Starr.

In the fall of 1997, three years after the investigation started, Special Prosecutor Starr made an impeachment referral to Congress concerning the Monica Lewinsky affair, not Whitewater, and issued his final report in September 1998.

The wheels of special prosecutions (justice) turn slowly...

At the time being a rabid Clintonite I thought Ken Starr was way beyond his pervu- now I see that the law must “trump” e everything. And especially because Of Starr - Mueller must be allowed to finish his job. However times are different - and this new generation of republicans don’t seem to care about the rule of law :(
