A couple of years ago I went to see the Broadway production of The King & I. Love that music and the opportunity to hear Kelli O'Hara sing, priceless. An excellent production. My favorite song from the musical, and, frankly, one of my all time favorite songs, was sung by a woman I wasn't familiar with, Ruthie Ann Miles. She was brilliant in the role of Lady Thiang, and unquestionably, deservedly, won the Tony award. You can listen to the song, Something Wonderful (I think its my song for Fred) HERE. I've been a big fan ever since.

RAM as Lady Thiang

Sadly, on March 5, the seven months pregnant Ruthie, while crossing the street in Park Slope with her 4 year old daughter, a friend, and her friend's 1 year old son was struck down as a car ran a red light. It killed her daughter, her friend's son and severely injured both the Mothers. As of early Tuesday, Ruthie is in stable condition.

There is nothing to say but LIFE IS SHORT. Pay attention to all the love that surrounds you and remind those in your life that they are loved.

There is a GoFundMe if you are interested in helping the family. I hope you are. Click HERE.

It takes every ounce of my concentration and focus every night to be in character, to sing in good voice, to not fall off the platform. I use my peripheral vision more than I have ever used it in my life. - Ruthie Ann Miles

How does your story go? As the river bends, the waters flow.
So it goes. So it goes.
How does your story end? As the river flows, the waters bend.
So it ends. So it ends.

It's wonderful to be thought of in such a way!

As I sat here this morning musing on what I considered to be consequential matters I opened this blog. There is nothing more to say. When I originally briefly heard the story on NPR I thought, how horrible, today, because of Cayce blog, I actually felt the impact of what happened two days ago.

What a lovely thing to read. Thank you for your continued thoughtfulness.

I heard about what happened to her on the news. So so sad. My husband lost his first wife at a very young age. He truly lives the mantra, "Live every day as if it was your last."

Heartbreaking, humbling story. Unspeakable, really.
Reminding us to be grateful for every breath, every blessing and every kindness we can pass on at every opportunity.

It was a sad news and raises other issues about driving and who can drive; fascinating that the GoFundme sought $5k and raised over $400k.
