Uber this

Several of my friends often plan Uber nights. It's essentially a plan to drink and let Uber drive you around. Everyone can drink and not worry about driving home.

Well here's an interesting result of an Uber night as reported by SkyNews. A drunk Uber user was hit with a $1,635 bill after falling asleep and embarking on a 300-mile journey across three states.

Kenny Bachman, after a night out with friends in Morgantown, West Virginia decided to get Uber to take him back to where he was staying, near West Virginia University's campus.

After getting inside the vehicle, he quickly passed out. He woke up two hours later to find the driver was instead taking him to his home - in Gloucester Cunty, New Jersey, more than 300 miles away.

Mr Bachman could not remember ordering the Uber and could not work out why a random man was driving him. To make matters worse, he had ordered an UberXL, which can hold up to six passengers but costs more than the usual ride.

The fare worked out to $1,635.93  - a $3.94 base fare, a $2.35 booking fee, $696.95 for distance and $115.90 for time. The surge pricing then doubled almost everything.

Bachman said, "Once the ride ended and I saw how much it was then I was like 'Alright, this is insane, that's just crazy'." He accused the Uber driver of using his phone and said he even had to get money to repay the driver for the tolls they had gone through along the way.

So next time you plan on an Uber night, make sure you have a designated person that orders the Uber.

I have the Uber app but, of course, I need you to teach me how to use it

Sorry I know my kid use Uber all the time they put it on my phone and I was considering using it until now, but how could anybody justify coming from New Jersey to get someone in another state? There has to be a record of the order or am I being too logical? Does he live in New Jersey and ordered an Uber to drive him to his home and was just that drunk?

My daughter prefers lift. Gotham has an excellent and secure car service to rely on. Aaron Jackson's Finest Chauffeurs.
Not a fan of Uber. Its unrestrained growth imposes great and unnecessary congestion on Manhattan CBD streets. And I can go on.

Like Marilyn, my kids Uber everywhere. I have my own political issues with Uber, similar to Corey.

I like Uber. They are cleaner, kinder, newer cars, than taxis. And the ease of getting out of a car without having to wrestle a card or cash is fabulous. My true preference is Via, where you’re dropped off and picked up within 2 blocks, for a price that almost rivals the subway.

Most people have had positive Uber experiences with great customer service, friendly drivers that provide prompt service. When a person uses the app, any driver can respond but the drivers are usually within a tight radius to the designated pick up location. I guess this teaches us all a lesson to make sure the location pick up and delivery point are clear and communicated not only with the driver, but recorded on the app. Uber has a record of the request, location and delivery so I'm not sure how this person could have been responsible for a 300 mile ride, unless while he was drunk, he said yes to the revised destination. There are now other companies competing with Uber, like Lyft, Via and Arro to name a few, but not all of these companies are licensed in all states like West Va...
