I Can Still Be Surprised

Jaclyn was gathering some family videos and photos for a project she is doing at school. In strolling down video memory lane, we stumbled across a snippet of Bill filming the kids dancing to Thriller. They were probably 10 and 6 years old at the time.

The first voice is Jaclyn's saying -- "mom's going to be so mad that she isn't here for this." And then the kids proceed to perform a dance that Jaclyn had clearly choreographed and taught her brother.

It was a kind of special moment for me watching, almost as if my kids were back to being 10 and 6 years old.

I have a trove of old pictures and videos which I love to roll out at interesting times.

Actually converted 8mm film of my early youth to video & later to disk.

Amazing thought for your daughter to have. I love watching old movies of our kids. Like Corey we are trying to convert them---my kids actually did that for some of them as a gift to me.

Nothing can beat the power of video/film for those old memories.

My kids love looking at old pics and footage of themselves. There is, however, the second child syndrome: we have hours of video of Allie sleeping, and Dana’s stuff (starting almost 5 years later) is all overshadowed by Allie taking charge. Lol.
