Fine Wine

I am one of the few Gothamites qualified to opine on the virtues of age.

Yes, it creeps up on you and suddenly you are "Mr. Klein" and your hair is silver (not gray).

You learn to accept a new consciousness and state of mind (which still harbors youthful thoughts, desires and aspirations).

You find yourself (semi proudly) stating, rather than hiding, your age and often hear "consider the alternative" or "fine wine" in response.

Well, that being said, a surprising number of things are far far better now than ever and if you get me alone I will tell you about them.

One thing though, if youth is truly wasted on the young, this boy is not going to waste any more of his lingering youth!

Forever young!

A friend of mine recently sat for his medical board recertification exam. when I asked him how it went, he told me that he was at least 20 years older than anyone else in the room. I told him that he must have been an inspiration to them all. Fred - keep inspiring !!!!!

Fred, there is no question that like a great home run hitter, no one can ever say you got cheated in your "turn at bat". Keep swinging for the fences. That's the only way to live life.

I remember my uncle being a tremendous inspiration for me because he continued to play roller hockey and baseball to the age of 52. It still motivates me to keep going strong, as do my idols like The Who...and Fred ;)

One could make the case that the reverse would be more desirable

Sorry for the typos. They have nothing to do with age. :)
Riva Schwartz

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

You are showing us the way on how to stay "young" in our EIGHTH DECADE. We all want it, too.
I think that "youing" typo is a Freudian Slip. You wish that Patrick Ewing could be playing instead of the offensive zero, Chandler. Odey Raviv

So Fred....I have to tell you I look forward to Fridays and your intriguing and thought provoking topics. Oscar Wilde was quoted as saying that "The tragedy of growing old is not that one is old but that one is young. " Profound. And of course Riva Schwartz quotes Bob Dylan's Forever Young. I remain in denial and only take the positive from getting older. I fantasize about Testosterone in the gym and the bedroom but don't want to screw (no pun intended) with my body's natural progression. As we push the envelope Fred....We do what we do to stay young and fit. Today at 0600 hours I was on the beach in Santa Cruz with my 2 Labrador retrievers. Brother and sister age 2. My heroes. They can teach us about being fit. 58 degree water. 3 minute miles. Hoo Yah !! Keep doing what we do. And by the way. You Da Man !! It's all about the endorphins for me. As Neil Young says..."Long may you Run!"

When will we see you?

I recently learned that growing old is actually a privilege that many don't get. It is certainly a different way of looking at things. Also growing old is really personally defined. BTW My father was "silver" at 40 years old. So that doesn't really indicate anything other than silver hair when taken care of is very distinquished.

I'm older than you How come my hair isn't white?

I was going to say that I know what you mean about getting very old, then realized that I don't.

A toast to Fred, our proud attorney,
Describing the tale of his lifelong journey.
Let's make sure, as he recounts the audits,
That he includes our well-earned plaudits,
And may the air around him reek
With the sounds of ein Klein-e nacht musique.
