Sleepless in Seattle

The weather in Seattle last weekend was spectacular. Cloudless skies. Very un-Seattle-like, especially for early May. Beautiful, memorable sunrises over Mount Rainier were the prominent news stories.
So Flo and I decided to view what was being touted as the opportunity of a lifetime. Tuesday was our last morning in Seattle and we were up at five a.m. to walk over to a promenade from which the majestic snow-capped volcano could be seen to the east of the Seattle skyline.
As we walked to the promenade near the Public Market on Tuesday morning it became clear that this morning, unlike the four previous mornings and the forecast for this morning, the weather was very Seattle-like.
There's an aphorism: “Man plans and God laughs.”

See last week's blog. The wedding was wonderful and thank you all for your thoughts on words of wisdom for the bride and groom.

I've never been to the northwest but everyone says it's a beautiful part of the country. I am curious to know after looking through all of the Gotham suggestions last week, what words of wisdom did you offer to the newlyweds?

Vince-
I shared Mitch's comment from John Adams. I also told them that they are a mirror to each other and will receive the love and support that they each express. My daughter routinely reads my blogs and if she hasn't seen last week's comments, I will remind her when they get back from their honeymoon.

My Mom used to say that in Yiddish. I miss hearing it.
Mazel tov on the wedding!!!

Congratulations on your daughter's wedding, Ben. If you liked Seattle, you'll LOVE Vancouver. We spent a couple of weeks there and it's a beautiful, interesting, cosmopolitan city with great ethnic restaurants. And a short (one hour) drive to Whistler mountain with its majestic views, plus white water rafting, biking around their "central park" added up to a memorable time.

I use the saying "Man plans and God laughs" all the time. I have one friend who plans out everything to a T while I plan in broad brush strokes. IMO it's better to go with the flow (excuse the pun) as you and your Flo did. Glad it was a wonderful wedding. Paula from Boston
