Performers

As you may know, my son Alex has 2 bands: Tiajuana Caravan and, the off shoot, The Tall Boys.

When Alex was in the crib we placed a toy guitar next to him and it took root.  He now has more than 20 guitars and has become, to my taste, a very entertaining and talented performer fronting and writing songs for his bands.

I know no greater thrill (kvell) than to be standing before him photographing and videoing  his performances.

Just 2 Saturday nights ago I again enjoyed this enriching experience. The next day, Sunday 4/30, Gotham had it's fifth annual Battle of the Bands at the iconic Cafe Wha? venue in Greenwich Village.  It just so happened that Alex's 10 year old son Shawn was in a school dance competition that same day and I was conflicted from going to it. However, Joanne went and said that at one point Shawn looked over to Alex and observed that there were more people there seeing him perform than saw him the previous night.

What's this thing about Klein's and competition?

By the way, Shawn's Swing Dance team won!

There's nothing like watching your children doing something they truly love ito do. Unfortunately I was unable to attend battle of the bands but it was for a positive reason. I was attending the debut of a video my daughter wrote, directed and produced and indeed I kvelled. Mazel Tov on Shawn's win and enjoy years of enjoyment watching them both perform.

How lucky are we to be able to enjoy watching our babies turn into amazing, talented and successful adults....and then the grandchildren???? The icing on the cake!
And of course Shawn's swing dance team won...he's a Klein!!

I think we would have allowed you to attend Shawn's event and my congrats to him. Recall I skipped 2016 to attend baby naming of my grand niece, Eden Rose. And all Gotham knows how much I like good live music!

You my friend are a roll model for our generation . Many times you have told me that you are "No Oracle " well ..... I seek out your advice and approval and nobody but you and possibly Joanne know what brought us to this point . One thing I do know is that you've done most things right in a manner that deserves honor and respect . I am lucky to have you in my life . Whatever form it has taken Brother .
