Here's hoping that Hurricane Matthew peters out. Here's hoping that the East coast is spared and that damage and injury is minimized.

Right now we don't know the full impact and then there's the possibility that it will curl around and return to hit Florida again.

Mother Nature is all powerful. Here's hoping she is merciful!

A terribly powerful reminder of the forces of nature. Hopefully, the warnings have been respected.

A powerful reminder of how little control we have over the force of nature..... or just about anything for that matter. Friends in Florida - be safe.

I have three properties in Brevard County. I was up till about 2:00AM glued to CNN. Nothing we can do here, but I think we were lucky, at least so far. I will know more tomorrow. I do know that none of my tenants evacuated which is just nuts to me.

The Weather Channel is a Tabloid when it sees the opportunity to scare the shit out of the inhabitants of Idiotville . All the huge red colored maps of storm surge and destruction . Anybody that uses or does weather for a living knows Matthew was going to Ping the east coast of Florida and bounce it's way up the coast till it hits somewhere around Savannah or maybe Charleston as it weakens with a colder sea temperature . The ITCZ or Inter Tropical Convergance Zone is a belt of low pressure which circles the earth generally near the equator where the Trade Winds of the Northern Hemisphere come together with those of the Southern Hemisphere . It is characterized by convective activity over a large area and tends to spawn the rotation off the west coast of Africa of the initial tropical ingredients of a hurricane . I have flown over and into Category 4 and 5 storms and seemed to have come away with an understanding of how monstrous and yet fragile these storms can be . Their fragile being lends to their unpredictability . Winds aloft , shear , water temperature and land mass for a few . I expect Matthew to weaken further to a Cat 2 and if it does spin back maybe as a tropical storm . But remember this : The Weather Channel dramatically portrays DRIZZLE !
