Last week I wrote about my husband’s personal philosophy, which leads us to travel as often as we can. One of the great things about travelling is that you never know what you may find. Labor Day weekend we choose to travel to Chicago. Our reason for doing so, because neither us, nor our friends whom we travel with, have just never been to Chicago.

 

Chicago surprised me. Never having been there, I found the sight of a river running right through a major city breathtaking.  Everything about Chicago was better than I had expected it to be, the architecture, the food and the people. I truly expected Chicago to be a city that I would visit once in my life. After having experienced Chicago, I know I will be back.

I have relatives there but not yet found excuse to go there. One relative, of course a big Cubs fan, lives here. Many probably recall his byline. I will note NYC has a # of rivers but two many square just Manhattan with the City. Of course I think of The Graham Nash penned CSNY tune.

Just got back Thursday from a work trip. Absolutely beautiful and stayed right along the river that runs through the city. Breathtaking a night. Although, as a real New Yorker I refused to cut my deep dish pizza w/ a fork and knife and ate it with my hands. Not the same.

Love visiting Chicago! Rona, I also enjoyed the city, the architecture, the food and the people. Have visited several times and this last visit, I finally took the water ride architectural tour - a must for anyone visiting.
If you have not visited Chicago, add it to your list Gotham - but try and avoid visiting in winter!
